New districts to get focused attention: Bhalla
JAMMU: Minister for Revenue and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla today said that the Government was keen to make available all basic amenities to the people in each district of the State with focused attention on the newly created districts.
The Minister was speaking at the Ramban District Development Board meeting which met here today under his chairmanship to approve this year's annual plan for the district.
The Board approved an annual plan of Rs. 64.60 crore for the district which include Rs 20.17 crore as Revenue component and Rs. 44.42- crore as capital component .
Vice Chairman DDB Ramban Manohar Lal Sharma, Minister of State for Haj and Auqaf Ajaz Ahmed Khan, Vice Chairman State Advisory Board for Kissans, Rashpal Singh, District Development Commissioner, Shabir Ahmad Bhat, besides HoDs of various departments were present in the meeting.
Mr. Bhalla asked the officers to put in their sincere efforts to implement the DDB decisions in letter and spirit to meet the aspirations of the people . He said Government was keen to extend every basic facility to the people of each district and bring these at par with twin cities. He said massive developmental activities have been launched across the State to make provisions for safe drinking water, regular power supply, road connectivity, healthcare, education, irrigation and other facilities to the people. He asked the officers to use funds judiciously and complete the ongoing development works in the district within stipulated time frame.
Mr. Bhalla said crores of rupees have been earmarked for construction of bridges, upgradation of PHE and PDD facilities, construction of hospitals, schools and roads across Ramban district. He directed the executing agencies to use quality material in execution of the works, adding that the objective of the Government is to build durable basic infrastructure for providing better civic facilities to the people.
He stressed upon the officers and officials to remain present in their jurisdictions and come up to the expectations of the general masses.
Earlier, details of the allocations proposed for each sector were given by DDC, Shabir Ahmad Bhat.
He also presented a power point presentation and apprised the House about the achievements and development activities made during 2010-11 .
