Ranbaxy Labs launches drug for osteoporosis

The country's largest drug maker Ranbaxy Laboratories today announced the launch of bonista teriparatide injection used in the treatment of osteoporosis (thinning of bones) in collaboration with Hyderabad-based Virchow Biotech. Ranbaxy has become the first company in the world to launch this bio-generic product, the company said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange. At present, osteoporosis drugs have a market size of around Rs 219 crore in the country, growing at more than 29 per cent per annum.
