- Rare birds, animals trading racket busted

Police have unearthed a major racket in wild animals and birds by arresting an auto mechanic in the City. Hundreds of rare varities of birds and animals, whose numbers are fast declining, have been seized. Officials of the CID and Forest Cell, on a tip off, recovered as many as 10 ruddy ducks also called 'pochards' (migratory wild birds), 16 Alaxenderian parakets, three loris, two civet cats and five quails that were illegally caged in a 'mini zoo' at 9th A Main, Sreenivasanagar, in Hanumanthanagar police limits. As many as 368 pigeons of different breeds, love birds and monkeys were also held captive at the 'mini zoo'.
