Officials Swoop Down On Lakshadweep Pavilion, Two Arrested
New Delhi: For the second year running, the Delhi government and the People For Animals (PFA) carried out a raid at the India International Trade Fair (IITF) at Pragati Maidan and recovered rare corals from the Lakshadweep pavilion. Two persons were arrested.
Officials said 20 ornamental corals, including starfish brains and ornamental trees found in the ocean bed, were seized.
Sources said initially the raid was planned for the Goa and Tamil Nadu pavilions, but word probably got around and by the time the team, which included officials of the Delhi wildlife department, there was no sign of any illegal trade.
