Twelve Spanish fishing companies and some of their employees were ordered to pay record fines and costs of more than $1.67m for heavy over-fishing in British waters. The companies and their trawler skippers admitted more than 100 offences against European fishing regulations in the biggest such prosecution brought in a UK court.
