- Rehabilitation policy demanded by tribal leaders

Tribal leaders from all over the country decided at a meeting here on Sunday to mobilise people for self-rule in areas where the "indigenous population " is in sizable numbers. They also urged the Union government to frame a rehabilitaion policy soon . The leaders, belonging to various groups like the Mundas, Nagas and Bhils, who assembled under the banner of the Indian Confederation of Indigenous and Tribal People (ICITP), an apex organisation of over 400 bodies , said, " The government has a Land Acquisition Act, formulated by the British, but no rehabilitation Act."
