Even as the ADAG promoted Reliance Energy works on its foray into thermal power projects, it has made a headway in the hydro sector. Reliance Energy has bagged three hydro power projects amounting to nearly 3,500 mw in Arunachal Pradesh. Though the government of India guidelines require that all power projects be awarded on the basis of tariff-based competitive bidding, Arunachal Pradesh has once again opted to award the project to the the developer offering the highest percentage of free power equity given to the state government.
