Relief plan in 116 calamity-hit villages initiated

Monday, November 24, 2014 - Hyderabad—Deputy Commissioner Jamshoro Sohail Adeeb Bachani has said the government has declared calamity in 116 Dehs of 20 Union Councils of Kotri, Sehwan, Manjhand and Thana Bola Khan Talukas of the district and started implementing a comprehensive relief plan for the people of the affected areas. This he informed while briefing the office- bearers of different non-governmental organisations at Darbar Hall Jamshoro about the situation of drought-hit areas of district. He said that a total of 16,676 wheat bags of 50kg each have so far been distributed among the affected peoples and recently MNA Malik Asad Sikandar and Commissioner Hyderabad also visited drought- hit areas of Kohistan and supervised the relief works in its villages. He said that about 12,000 animals would also be vaccinated in 28 Dehs of tehsil Thana Bola Khan. He informed the participants that there is no problem of law and order in Kohistan, therefore relief measures can be conducted in those areas without any hurdle. Earlier, Additional Deputy Commissioner-1 Habib Ahmed briefed the participants through pictures and charts regarding overall situation and relief works in the drought affected areas of the district.—APP
