Lessons for how to make Delhi green can be learnt from the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). Other than giving the Delhiiites a safe and sound ride, the Corporation is busy giving new life to the trees uprooted during the Metro rail construction work. The relocation of the trees started in the year 2000 and till date 677 trees have been replanted out of which 431 have actually survived. "Our motto is, cut one and plant ten. Not only the saplings but we are also concerned about the fully grown trees which have to be cut following the Metro work," said Mr Dayal. He further added "We study a lot before cutting a tree. Only after considering the after affects of deforestation in that particular area, we proceed."
