Substantial remnants of a fortified Harappan settlement, including a fortification wall, dwelling pits, daily-use copper objects, weapons, seals and pottery etc have been found during an excavation being carried out by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) in the village. Some of the remnants and artifacts dug out by the ASI team are supposedly up to 5,500 years old. Superintending Archaeologist L.S. Rao, who is in charge of the operations here, told that in a significant development, vital remnants of the early, early-mature and mature Harappan eras, besides those of the Hakra Civilization, had been found so far during the excavation.
