The Delhi High Court today asked New Delhi Municipal Council and the police to remove all illegal squatters in and around Safdarjung Hospital here within a week and said the Assistant Commissioners of the two agencies responsible for the area shall be held liable for non-compliance of the order.A Division Bench of Chief Justice B C Patel and Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul, which had earlier passed orders in this regard, was not satisfied with the performance of NDMC and the police in removing illegal squatters. The Bench passed the order after perusing a report prepared by amicus curiae Sanjeev Khanna and Central Government Standing Counsel Siddharth Mridul, which said that illegal squatters were still preparing food on the footpath and serving it to the people.
