Reopening of quarries in Kollegal ruled out

The Minister of State for Home, Mr. R. Roshan Baig, ruled out the opening of quarries in the Kollegal and adjoining areas in Karnataka as gelatine sticks and other explosives, likely to be used, might go to Veerappan, the forest brigand. Mr. Baig told presspersons that the Director General and Inspector of Police, Mr. T. Srinivasulu would be asked to sumbit a report to be government on the feasibility of reopening the quarries in the region which have remained closed for over five years.
