Two studies in the journal Science this week reveal discoveries that may affect how tropical forests are managed and preserved. In one study, appearing in the journal on Friday, researchers discovered that trees of the same species tend to cluster or aggregate together in a tropical forest. In the Science study, researchers from an international team conducted a tree census of forest plots in five South American and Asian countries.
