Pakistan Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz said water security was extremely critical for future growth and development of Pakistan and required construction of storage and distribution infrastructure. Talking to Technical Committee on Water Resources (TCWR) Chairman A G N Abbasi, who presented Committee's report to him, the Prime Minister said availability of water was critical for economic development, employment in rural areas and raising quality of lives of the people. The Prime Minister assuring equitable distribution of water called for enhancing water storage facility to meet demand and overcome capacity loss due to siltation of existing reservoirs.
