Rhododendron bushes common in the northern belt of Jhapa district are decreasing fast. Unchecked clearance of the bushes for various purposes and the butterfly lava feeding on the plant have threatened the existence of rhododendron bushes that grew wild in the forest in the past. Rhododendron is the national flower of Nepal.
