Right to Education Bill stuck again

THE Right to Education bill seems to have run into rough weather yet again. Instructions from Prime Minister Manmohan Singh notwithstanding, the government , it seems won't be able to introduce the Right to Education bill, 2008, in Parliament, before it goes into recess on March 20. The delay is on account of the failure of the finance ministry and planning commission to revert to the ministry of human resource development with their comments on the Cabinet note. Given the prime minister's interest in seeing through the legislation it was generally considered that the bill would make it safely through to Parliament. Nonetheless desite prime ministerial support the bill has yet to clear all the hurdles before it can be taken up for Cabinet approval.
