Rise in diesel autos to cause more lung diseases

Experts : Increased dieselisation of automobiles, particularly cars, in Delhi will lead to increased respiratory diseases, lung cancer and emphysema, doctors and toxicologists from prestigious medical institutions have warned. The problem of vehicular pollution in the metros is significant as it costs the exchequer a whopping Rs 4,550 crore as estimated by the World Bank annually for medical treatment. More than 10,000 lives are lost each year, according to Anil Agarwal of the Centre for Science and Envirojment in a monograph-- 'Engines of the devil'.
