A new 2.7 km-long road is coming up right in the heart of the Jim Corbett tiger reserve. Although it traverses reserved forests, it does not have the clearance of the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests (MEF). Uttar Pradesh government has authorised the construction of a tarred road deep inside the Ramnagar Forest Division of the Corbett Tiger Reserve (CTR). The road, from Ramnagar to Patkot, will cut through prime forests, tiger habitat and the migratory corridors of elephants.
