Road network improves in state

Bhopal : With utmost attention of the state government to construction and upgradation of road communication Madhya Pradesh has witnessed a remarkable improvement in the road network over last four and half years. This has given a fillip to the development process besides making life of people more convenient. The State Road Development Authority since 2004 has completed development work of 3607 km length of roads and work on another 2990.45 km is in progress. A sum of about Rs. 2406 crore has been spent so far on these works. The Corporation has also completed development of 1488.66 km long roads under BOT project and 1341 km roads under ADB project. As many as 777 km long roads have been renovated under regular agreements. Work on 651.41 km under BOT project, 1889.75 km under ADB project and 449.29 km under regular agreement is going on. Moreover, new projects of 536 km roads are proposed under BOT. The Road Development Corporation has completed development of ten roads with having 1488 km length at a cost of Rs 735.72 crore under BOT project. These include Indore-Sanawad-Burhanpur-Edalabad road having a length of 203 km costing Rs 124.05 crore; Ujjain-Agar-Susner-Jhalawad road with a length of 134 km costing Rs. 66.70 crore; Dewas-Ujjain-Badnagar road with a length of 98.26 km costing Rs 49.93 crore; Hoshangabad-Piparia-Pachmarhi having a length of 126 km costing Rs 57 crore; Jabalpur-Narsinghpur-Piparia road with a length of 140 km costing Rs 74.96 crore; Hoshangabad-Harda-Khandwa road with a length of 185 km costing Rs 81 crore; Raisen-Rahatgarh road with a length of 101.40 km costing Rs 57.72 crore; Satna-Maihar-Talumaria road having a length of 141 km costing Rs 53.29 crore; Seoni-Balaghat-Gondia road with a length of 114 km costing Rs. 59.80 crore; Rewa-Jaisingh Nagar-Shahadol-Amarkantak road with a length of 246 km costing Rs 111.27 crore. Similarly, development of six important roads has been completed with the assistance of Asian Development Bank in the first phase. These include 36.15 km long Bhopal-Vidisha road costing Rs. 31.32 crore; 67.80 km long Betul-Paratwara road costing Rs 109.41 crore and 54.40 km long Chhindwara-Multai road; 71.82 km long Sagar-Bina road costing Rs. 66.22 crore; 51.38 km long Agar-Sarangpur road and Khilchipur-Susner road costing 67.89 crore; 77 km long Porasa-Mahagaon-Sewada road costing Rs 47.32 crore and 42.20 km long Sagar-Rehali road costing Rs 29.48 crore.
