The problem of child labour has assumed alarming proportions. To tackle this social evil the Rotary Club Amritsar South in collaboration with the Government of India has taken the initiative to raise the level of education of these children so that they can be absorbed into the mainstream. To motivate the parents of these working children, a National Child Labour Project was introduced by the Central Government whereby a scheme was evolved to ensure the education of these children for at least three hours a day in the afternoon so that a conflict with their normal working hours is avoided.
