Rs 1,500 cr desalination plant soon

In an effort to augment water supply in Chennai, the Tamil Nadu state government has proposed to set up a sea water desalination plant at a cost of Rs 1,500 crore. Announcing this in the State Assembly, Local Administration minister M C Sampath said that the plant with a capacity of 300 million litres daily would be established using the state-of-the art technology on Build-Own-Operate and Transfer basis.
