Rs 1500 cr road connectivity projects under consideration: Sagar

Minister for Rural Development and Parliamentary Affairs, Ali Mohammad Sagar has said that proposal for construction of Chhatroo-Singhpora-Vailoo tunnel is under consideration, adding that study of the project has been conducted and recently mode of execution of the project discussed at a high level meeting. Replying to a question by G.M. Saroori, in the Legislative Assembly here today, the Minister assured that Government would take appropriate action for early execution of the tunnels and roads to be constructed in Doda and Kishtwar districts to connect with capital cities of the State. He said these projects involve a cost of Rs 1500 crore and due to meager resources of State, the Government is also considering to take up the Projects on Private Public Partnership mode. Replying to the supplementaries raised by Sajad Ahmad Kitchloo, Abdul Majid Wani, A.R. Veeri, the Minister said that the Government is committed to provide better communication facility to the people, adding that various steps have been taken to connect remote and hilly areas with urban areas. The Minister said that there is no proposal of tunnel between Bata Warwan and Matigowaran as well as Marwah and Chingam.
