The Japanese government will extent approximately Rs 1.72 crore as grant assistance to eight grassroots projects run by non-government organisations in India. The assistance is being extended under the 'grant assistance for grassroots projects' scheme intorduced by the Japaenese government in 1989 to provide assistance directly to NGOs, a release from the Japanese information and cultural centre said yesterday.
