Rs 24 cr for desilting Bethamangala lake

DH News Service, Kolar Gold Fields: A proposal of Rs 24 crore has been submitted to the government for desilting Bethamangala lake, stated MLA Y Sampangi in KGF. The work aims to solve the drinking water problem of KGF people. Sampangi was speaking after launching the borewell works at Parandahalli lake on Saturday. He assured that the desilting works would be started soon which would benefit Bethamangala, KGF and the surrounding rural areas. The works of fixing the motor pipes to the borewells is in progress for which Rs 45 lakhs have already been released, the Legislator added. Sampangi stated that ten tankers would be taken on contract basis to supply free drinking water to the people at a cost of Rs 14 lakhs from Monday. Municipal Commissioner Yarrappa, AEE Jayaramaiah, water board officials Rajgopal, Raveendra, BJP leaders Munirathnam Naidu, town unit president Suresh Narayan Kutti, City Municipal Council Vice President Sangeetha Kumari, members Murali, Edward Sigamani, Premchand Jain, Ravi and others were also present.
