Rs 27.37 special assistanc approved under SSP

UDHAMPUR, Sep 10: Rs.27.53 lakh Special Central Assistance (SCA) to Scheduled Caste Plan (SCP) for the year 2008-09 was approved at a meeting of District Officers of various departments held under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Ajay Khajuria, here today. Out of the total allocation, 70 per cent amount would be utilized for setting up income generating units and the remaining 30 per cent for raising infrastructure, the meeting was apprised. It was decided in the meeting to allocate Rs.19.27 lakh to different sectors for setting up income generating units which included allocation of Rs.4.46 lakh under Animal Husbandry sector, Rs.4.41 lakh for Sheep Husbandry, Rs.Rs.4.45 lakh to Social Welfare sector, Rs.3.57 lakh under Agriculture and Rs.2.68 lakh went in favour of Horticulture sector. Similarly, Rs.8.26 lakh have been allotted to different sectoral heads for raising infrastructure in the district which involve Rs.3.57 lakh to Rural Development, Rs.1.67 lakh to Public Health Engineering, Rs.1.57 lakh to Power Development and Rs.1.27 lakh under Soil Conservation sector. Speaking on the occasion, the DC impressed upon the district officers to prepare prospective plans, imply their concerted efforts and provide the benefits to under-privileged sections of the society for their socio-economic transformation. He also stressed for coordinated approach by taking the people of the area into confidence and ensures that funds allocated by the government are utilized judiciously as per the guidelines.
