Rs 3 cr for checking malnutrition

Rs 3.29 crore would be spent on controlling malnutrition in children, arrangement of nutritious diet and health check-up in the state this year under Bal Sanjivani Abhiyan and Project Muskan. Using these funds training would be imparted to 69,248 Anganwadi workers under 367 schemes, publicity, arrangements for nutritious diet, organising health check-up camps and arrangements of medicines, doctors and paramedical staff apart from promotional activities. Under Bal Sanjivani Abhiyan and Project Muskan, Rs 13.85 lakh would be spent on the training to Anganwadi workers, Rs 62.31 lakh on dissemination of information and publicity and Rs 45.01 lakh would be spent on promotional activities aiming at creating awareness about nutritious diet in the rural areas. Services of 1409 specialist doctors would be availed for every 100 Anganwadis apart from a general practitioner. Besides, arrangement for 1386 paramedics would also be availed. About Rs 70 lakh would be spent on organising nutrition and health check-up camps. Rs 1.02 crore would be spent under Bal Sanjivani Abhiyan and Project Muskan providing nutritious diet through 21,633 Anganwadis in 97 project areas in the tribal-predominant areas. Expenditure would be to the tune of Rs 1.93 crore on nutritious diet and promotional activities in 216 other rural areas' 40,646 Anganwadis. Similarly, Rs 33.38 lakh has been allocated to 6958 Anganwadis in 54 urban area schemes for undertaking promotional activities and distributing notorious diet under Bal Sanjivani Abhiyan and Project Muskan.
