Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has asked construction agencies and officers associated with infrastructure development projects to take the fullest advantage of the existing coordination between the central and the State governments leading to liberal funding and implement schemes in the shortest possible time for the benefit of people in all areas of the State. Addressing the Doda District Development Board meeting at which the annual district plan for the year 2007-08 was approved at Rs. 3375.68 lakhs here today, the Chief Minister said that due to this coordination Jammu & Kashmir had been able to receive liberal central assistance for development purposes. He warned that assistance of this huge nature could not be available for all the times to come and urged the projects executing agencies and officers to make maximum out of this rare opportunity. He said such perfect coordination was never seen in the past. He called upon government officials to take personal interest in the timely completion of development projects so that their fruits reach all people in the State irrespective of their political leanings, caste and creed. The Chief Minister said that the situation in the State having improved and become near normal, the entire thrust had shifted to development. "If we are not able to adequately utilize the liberal funds received from the central government then people will not forgive us", he reminded the officials and said that it was the money of the tax payers of the country and the State owed it to them to spend it properly. He said the government officials had a greater role to play in the development of the State and he expected them to discharge their responsibilities well. He said as citizens they should develop stake in the rapid development of the State. He called for inculcating the spirit to perform their responsibilities as if they were doing their own personal work. He said the work culture introduced by him had to carry forward to achieve better results. He said the officials should be focused on development irrespective of which party was in power. Their approach, he said, had to be non- partisan and people oriented.
