At the meeting Punjab Chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh underscored the need to launch the Punjab Nirman Programme for improving the quality of life of residents of both urban and rural areas by ensuring basis civic amenities to them. The Rs 400 crore earmarked for the programme will cover the remaining period of the current financial year and the next financial year the next financial year of 2006-07.
