Hyderabad, July 27: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) will take up two major projects at a cost of over Rs 432 crore as part of infrastructure development under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM). While a sewerage master plan will be implemented in the Serilingampally municipal circle at a cost of Rs 200 crore, the refurbishment of existing feeder system, including distribution network of drinking water supply on the north and south of river Musi, will be taken up at a cost of Rs 232.22 crore in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation limits. The Centre's contribution for both the projects is Rs 151 crore. Though the Serilingampally municipal area has seen rapid growth in the last few years, the sewerage system was inadequate. Now, the water board has designed a master plan for a new sewerage system in the catchment areas of Serilingampally such as Miyapur, BHEL, Beverly Hill, Gachibowli, Kondapur, Gopannapally, Nanakramguda and Durgam Cheruvu, covering an area of 99.96 sq km. The Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee of the Jawaharlal Nehru Mission cleared the project at a cost of Rs 200.38 crore recently based on which the Municipal Administration and Urban Development Department (Maud) had issued administrative sanction for launching the project immediately, department sources said. With the water board set to undertake a massive exercise to strengthen the distribution system by building additional water storage reservoirs and refurbishing the existing system, areas in Hyderabad, areas in Hyderabad can expect to get better supplies. This project will cover Prakashnagar, Chilkalguda, Narayanguda, Asifnagar, Shaikpet, Mir Alam, Maisaram, Riyasatnagar, Chanchalguda and Asmangadh.
