Rs 527-cr World Bank aid for city traffic

The Greater Chennai Metropolitan area will get Rs 527.5 crore ($ 121.5 mn), under the Tamil Nadu Urban Development Project-III to upgrade its transport and traffic infrastructure.The assistance forms the transport and traffic management sub-component of the urban investment component of the TNUDP-III, for which the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) will be the nodal agency.The project will be supported by the Department of Highways and Rural Works (DHRW) and the Chennai City Traffic Police (CCTP) in its implementation.
