The NCR Planning Board has approved a plan of Rs 8000 crore for the development of the National Capital Region (NCR). Four major programmes have been approved in the plan, including the development of national highways and roads in areas adjoining Delhi, establishment of seven metros and 11 regional centres to reduce the ever- increasing pressure on the national Capital. It may be pointed out that experts have been emphasising the need to develop the towns and cities around the national Capital in a planned manner so as to reduce the migratory population on the national Capital.
