BANDIPORA: Minister for Agriculture and Cooperatives Abdul Aziz Zargar said that government is committed to provide all basic facilities to the people of the state. He said road connectivity, adequate drinking water facility, power, health and education are the top most priority sectors of the government. Minister was addressing a large public gathering at Erin Bandipora today. Referring to the restoration of peace and normalcy in the state, the minister said that the people of the state were the stake holders in this process. He said the coalition government is adhered to its commitment of restoration of peace with dignity and ensuring involvement of the people in the development process. Minister said that an amount of Rs. 8.5 crore has been sanctioned under Command Area Development Project in Bandipora district which will benefit more than 36 villages and cover an area of over 2700 hectares. He said work on this project would be started soon. He said 11 canals and khuls will be covered under this project. He said Rs. 30 lakh have been released for Micro Watershed Projects at Erin Bandipora. Addressing the gathering, Minister for Forests and Environment Qazi Mohammad Afzal said that the government was according priority to equitable and sustainable development of all the regions of the state. On this occasion, Qazi Afzal announced that 3 timber depots at Sumlar, Dardipora and Kunon would be established soon. He said Erin area would be covered under social forestry. He also announced that a hut would be constructed at Erin. Member Legislative Council Nizam-ud-Din Bhat also spoke on the occasion and threw light on the developmental activities registered in the Bandipora district during the regime of coalition government.
