Rs. 920 crores granted for roads

Chief Minister Jayalalithaa has sanctioned Rs. 920 crores for improving the profile of roads in the State under the Comprehensive Road Infrastructure Development Programme.
The funds will be utilised for upgrading 1,420-km-long State Highways (at Rs. 300 crores); 1,676-km-long Major District Roads (Rs. 300 crores); 3,597-km-long Other District Roads (Rs. 220 crores); and panchayat/panchayat union roads (Rs. 100 crores), said a release here on Sunday. The Chief Minister ordered the expeditious completion of the improvement works, which covered widening and strengthening of the roads.
