South Korean researchers have succeeded in cloning human embryos, gently removing the nucleus of eggs taken from women and transplanting genetic material extracted from mature cells into those eggs. The modified eggs were then coaxed to develop into tiny balls of cells from which stem cells could be extracted. (Editorial).
