The Rural Development Ministry has approved project proposals worth Rs 2,162.56 crore for the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana for 23 States and two Union Territories for the next financial year. The 2001-02 Budget has earmarked Rs 2,500 crore for rural roads programmes, official sources said.
