Salt-tolerant mangrove forests protected

The forest department authorities (mangrove wing) in Andhra Pradesh have taken adequate steps to control the deforestation of mangrove forests, which play a vital role in the ecological balance and protect the coastal belt from cyclones and tidal waves.Krishna district magistrate Bambal Ram Meena said 80,000 acres in East Godavari district, 62,500 acres in Krishna district and 21,250 acres in Guntur district coastline were covered by mangroves, which are salt-tolerant.
