The seizure of as many as four trucks of two varieties of sandalwood in Guwahati on transit from Tamil Nadu to Myanmar, has created a great deal of concern in circles concerned here over fears that the international smugglers are using the North-east as a safe corridor for smuggling the valuable items to the South East Asian countries. It is interesting to note here that the Forest Department which had seized the valuable wood is itself in confused state whether the seizure is legal or not.
