The Tamil Nadu forest department has ordered uprooting of 79 sandalwood trees on what is commonly referred to as the Forest college campus, housing the State Forest Rangers college and the Institute of forest Genetics and Tree Breeding. The popular theory floating around is that the trees were being felled as enough manpower was not available to protect them.
