Nearly 10,000 residents of Ramayan and Dhandheri villages, located near the Delhi-Hisar national highway near Hansi subdivision, have been drinking contaminated water for the past six months. According to the villagers, their repeated requests to the department and the district administration have fallen on deaf ears. The situation will worsen with the onset of summer, especially in view of erratic power supply. The residents are getting drinking water once in three or four days. About half of the village does not even get that. "Many a time, the water supplied is dirty and smelly but we have no alternative but to use it for drinking and cooking food,' says Ajit Singh.
