Sarni power station to general more electricity

Efforts are on to increase electricity generation in the state thereby making it self-reliant in respect of its power requirements. In this direction, the two new units at Sarni would generate 500 megawatts electricity additionally in the next three years. In its ongoing efforts to increase power generation in the state, the present government has included the two new power generation units of 250 megawatts capacity each at Sarni in its high priority power generation projects. The Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited has already been assigned the task of commissioning these two units. Further, the state government has already released the first instalment of Rs. 141 crore 68 lakh to the BHEL to launch work on this ambitious project. With regard to availability of funds for the two power generation extension units involving an investment of Rs. 2637 crore, eighty percent funds would be arranged from the Power Finance Corporation (PFC) and the remaining cost would be mobilised by the Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company from its own resources so as to accelerate the pace of work on these two units.
