A master plan for a satellite township in Tripunithura, Kerala had been put forward about by the then UDF Government seven years ago. Aiming at beautifying this municipality, the project also proposed to reduce the density of crowded residential areas in the town. The project was opposed in its initial stage itself. The LDF-led municipal council protested against the project, citing possibility of ecological disorder and destruction of fertile farm land.
