The Supreme Court on Friday asked South Korean steel major Posco to approach the Orissa government for allotting demarcated mining area for its proposed Rs 51,000 crore mega steel plant. A special environmental bench headed by Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan asked Posco India Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of Korea-based Posco, to approach the state to execute lease for a captive and demarcated mine. However, it was not convinced with Posco's counsel Mukul Rohtagi's argument that the Orissa Mining Corporation (OMC) had agreed to supply uninterrupted iron ore and other minerals for its 12 million tonne steel project.
