Taking serious note of the depleting forest cover of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the Supreme Court, in a landmark judgement, has imposed a complete ban on the felling of any naturally grown tree in the islands. One of the first projects to be directly affected by the Supreme Court ban on felling of trees is the expansion being planned for country's first ever 'tri-service command' that has just been created in Port by the Defence Ministry.
