Concerned over the acute shortage of drinking water in the Capital, the Supreme Court today directed the Haryana and Punjab governments to allow an additional 125 cusec of water from the Bhakra-Beas Management Board to reach Delhi through its canals. A division bench comprising Mr Justice B N Kirpal and Mr Justice Ruma Pal directed the state governments to allow the quantity of water to be arranged by the Delhi Government from the board to flow through their canal system till August 31.
