SC 'distress' over pollution case response

The Supreme Court today in the "Delhi vehicular pollution control and traffic regulation case" expressed 'distress over the manner in which earlier directions of the court in this regard were implemented and underlined that the basic right to life under Article 21 of the Constitution "have to be complied with".The bench consisting of Dr. Justice A.S. Anand, Mr. Justice B.N. Kirpal and Mr. Justice V.N.Khare directed the Union of India and the Delhi Government to give within 10 weeks a list of respectable persons from every colony in each of the nine police districts in the National Capital Territory who might be appointed as "officers of the court" to implement its various directions issued sometime ago.
