A two-member bench of the Supreme Court, comprising Justice G B Pattnaik and Justice Brijesh Kumar, issued notices to Karnataka and the Central Waters Commission, Government of India, on their failure to provide water to 134 villages in the banks of river Bhima. The notice, however, was not issued to Maharashtra, since the bench observed that the individuals have no right to raise any dispute against the neighbouring State, much less the water dispute.
