The Supreme Court has ordered an inquiry by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the illegal felling of trees at Bastar in Madhya Pradesh under the garb of "Malik Maqbuj". The order followed a reply filed by the Madhya Pradesh Government in the apex court during the hearing of a petition filed by SR Hiremath, President, National Committee for Protection of Natural Resources (NCPNR).
