The Supreme Court on Monday lost hope of settling the vexed issue of rehabilitation of Narmada project affected families (PAFs) by thrashing out the differences between the Narmada Bachao Andolan (NBA) and the Madhya Pradesh government and said it would now have to decide the issue. NBA, through counsel Sanjay Parekh and Prashant Bhushan, charged the state government with not following the land-for-land compensation scheme and resorting to a cash-based special rehabilitation package (SRP) and alleged that SRP had led to large scale malpractices. They also said that the MP government should emulate the Gujarat government in giving proper rehabilitation, that is purchasing the land identified by the dam oustee and allotting it to him. However, the MP government
