New Delhi: About 40 students of Class XII and some members of the faculty of The Indian School marched along a BRT carriageway in protest against the corridor on Friday morning. As the school is along the corridor, many students are affected by it, said protesters. Focusing primarily on pollution, they said the long wait at signals and constantly running engines, especially in the summer heat, could lead to breathing-related problems. “Some students already have asthma and it’s not long before the pollution causes problems in other children,” said principal Rashi Narula. In a symbolic gesture, the students wore masks to cover their mouth and nose. They walked in a line, led by two students playing drums, letting their banners do all the talking. Some read — ‘What on earth are you doing for the earth,’ ‘Turn off your engines, kids breathe free,’ and ‘Idle free zone young lungs at work.’ TNN
