Science Congress seeks new policy on water, energy

DEHRA DUN: The Fifth Uttarakhand State Science and Technology Congress concluded here with experts and budding scientists urging the Government to immediately frame policies for water and energy conservation to ensure sustainable growth of the State.
Briefing journalists on the recommendations of the Congress here on Sunday, Rajendra Dobhal, Director, Uttarakhand State Council for Science and Technology (U-COST) said the experts were of the view that isotope technology should be used to identify and recharge the large number of natural water resources that had dried up over the decades. Special efforts should be made to study the glaciers and suitable technologies should be used to tap the solar power.
The increasing number of research papers and participation at the Congress showed that U-COST had succeeded in kindling the fire of scientific pursuit among the people.
Among the awards, 21 of the 43 went to women scientists.
